
Ten suppliers from Albufeira, including hotels, golf providers and attractions, visited Medley on Dublin’s Fleet Street to engage with Irish trade and press. The gathering took place at Medley, featuring Portuguese wines and food, with Alan Shortt as host.
Sponsors included the Albufeira Tourism Board and Albufeira Council, both present at the event. Joana Machado delivered an update on Albufeira’s progress, covering golf expansion and off-peak increases, supported by reliable sunshine and top beaches.
The event includesd a workshop at 6 PM followed by a dinner at 7:30 PM, featuring suppliers like 3HB, Algarexperience, Algarve Riders, AP Hotels, Apartamentos do Parque, Dona Filipa Golf, Falésia Hotel, Fasbar nightlife, Highgate, Hoteis Real, Visacar and Xride.
Albufeira hosted nearly 900,000 overnight stays in June 2025, ranking as Portugal’s second most popular destination after Lisbon. The region sees growing interest in low-season tourism, offering year-round appeal for visitors.
Albufeira’s diverse offerings include beach activities, golf, and nightlife through partners like Fasbar and Algarve Riders. Two developments wwere highlighted in the presentations,: the EDP Art Reef, an underwater sculpture collection at 12 metres depth a mile offshore, and the UNESCO-designated GeoPark Algarvenis involving Albufeira, Loule and Silves.
Joana Machado shared: “We value our Irish partners, and Irish tourists are part of us. We want more people to come to experience our beaches, our gastronomy and our culture. We are promising to bring Irish travel agents and press out again in 2026 to learn even more about the Albufeira region.”
