Arranmore Island launches all-terrain wheelchair for inclusive tourism

0

Arranmore Island off the Donegal coast has introduced a new three-wheeler all-terrain wheelchair to improve accessibility to its beaches and coastal trails, funded by a €20,000 grant from FLAG North and delivered through the island’s community co-operative.

The initiative aims to make the remote Gaeltacht island more welcoming for wheelchair users and those with mobility challenges, opening up natural attractions and heritage walks that form part of the Wild Atlantic Way experience. Community leaders hope the equipment will encourage more inclusive visitor numbers and longer stays on the island.
