Santorini has launched a new digital campaign centred on 32 short videos to promote its wine, gastronomy, culture and nature. The campaign was unveiled at the GNTO Santorini Tourism Forum 2026 held from 5 to 8 October 2026, shifting focus away from standard mass tourism and sunsets. The campaign highlights the ancient kouloura training method where vines are shaped into low, circular baskets to guard against wind and sun, and the famous Assyrtiko grape. It features signature regional foods such as yellow split-pea fava, tiny cherry tomatoes and white aubergine.

Following an announcement in December 2025, Santorini is part of the expanded Michelin Guide Greek selection for 2026 alongside Athens and Thessaloniki. The island’s volcanic soil and harsh, windy climate have bred distinctive winemaking techniques. Local growers weave vines into low, circular, basket-like shapes to protect the grapes from Aegean winds and intense sunlight. Santorini’s signature crisp, mineral-forward Assyrtiko white wine has achieved global acclaim.
