British Airways is to launch a new weekly summer service from Dublin to Manchester from May 2018, and increase its frequency from London City Airport to Dublin Airport from 32 to 36 flights a week.
The IAG-owned airline is getting two new 98-seat Embraer 190 aircraft in January and April 2018, bringing the total fleet number to 22. The airline is also recruiting 20 new pilots and 20 cabin crew.
The airline currently flies to Dublin from London Heathrow’s Terminal 5 and from London City Airport.
Dublin Airport Managing Director Vincent Harrison believes that the new route will be “hugely popular” for Irish and British passengers, and comes despite falling inbound visitor numbers from Britain to Ireland, blamed on Brexit worries and the fall in value of sterling.
