

The keel laying ceremony has taken place for Celebrity Xcel at Chantiers de l’Atlantique shipyard in France.
Executives from Royal Caribbean Group and Celebrity Cruises participated in the ceremony, lowering the first steel block for the new ship and placing newly minted coins for good luck
Celebrity Xcel will be the first tri-fuel capable engine ship for Royal Caribbean Group, with the ability to use methanol as a fuel source
The ship is part of the Edge Series collaboration between Celebrity Cruises and Chantiers de l’Atlantique, with the debut scheduled for November 2025 in the Caribbean. Royal Caribbean Group has also joined the Methanol Institute to improve energy efficiency and use methanol as marine fuel.
