Pat Byrne’s Cityjet is in negotiations to purchase Cimber Air form SAS, which owned the eight-aircraft airline since March 1 2015. The proposed takeover would take Cityjet’s fleet from eight to 19.

Last year Cityjet bought SAS production company Blue1 and flies eight CRJ900 aircraft on wet lease for SAS, due to rise to twelve in summer 2017.

Scandinavian’s 18 months ownership of Cimber has experienced a series fo setbacks. Planning delays and a pilot shortage meant SAS had to cancel more than a thousand flights from November 2015 to the end of March 2016.
