CLIA has opened applications for its returning Cruise Champion training programmes, with two separate hybrid learning courses launching for frontline agents. One programme focuses on river cruise and the other on expedition cruise. Almost 80 agents can join the six-month programmes, which are returning for their third year.
The programmes target those who are new or have limited experience of the sectors. Content includes a mix of virtual activity such as product training webinars, panel discussions and virtual workshops, supported by self-study, monthly knowledge reviews and an end of programme final assessment. The content covers destination and product training as well as sales techniques. CLIA created the programmes alongside its river and expedition cruise line members.
Agents have a week to apply, with the deadline confirmed for 20 September 2026. Successful applicants will be advised by the end of September. All applicants must be able to attend an in-person launch day in Birmingham on 19 November, supported by both river and expedition cruise operators. The programmes culminate in a graduation ceremony in June 2027.
Andy Harmer shared “River and expedition cruising both offer significant opportunities for travel agents, and building knowledge and confidence is key to making the most of their potential.”
