The non-statutory public consultation for Ireland’s proposed National Watersports Campus at Dún Laoghaire Harbour is officially open from 3 July to 31 July 2026. Spearheaded by the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (DLRCC), this flagship project aims to consolidate marine leisure, elite training, and community sports under one world-class framework.
The campus is designed to resolve existing infrastructure deficits in the Greater Dublin Area and will feature:
- All-Tide Public Slipway: A much-needed facility currently missing in the region.
- High-Performance Facilities: Elite training spaces developed in partnership with Irish Sailing and Diving Ireland to boost international athletic success.
- Headquarters & Service Buildings: A 350m² main event building, a dedicated water sports provider section, and a repair yard.
- The Gut & Coal Harbour Upgrades: Improved launching assets and maintenance buildings behind the West Pier.
To help residents, clubs, and business owners review the initial designs, the council has scheduled two public information sessions, an online information webinar on Tuesday, 14 July 2026, from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and a public drop-in session on Wednesday, 15 July 2026, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Assembly Hall, County Hall, Marine Road, Dún Laoghaire.
Feedback collected during this phase will directly shape the final design before a formal planning application is submitted later this year. Submissions must be made on or before Friday, 31 July 2026 through the DLRCC Citizen space portal of the official website where users can Review further project background and submit forms via the dedicated campus site at www.nwsc.ie.
A dedicated project website now provides details for stakeholder feedback. The initiative aims to enhance watersports facilities and accessibility across the country. The campus project supports broader tourism and marine leisure development. Public input will shape the final design and implementation. Officials expect the facility to boost participation in watersports activities.
