Córdoba Airport in Spain has officially shattered its all-time annual passenger record with more than four months of the year still remaining. According to data released by the Spanish airport operator Aena the airport recorded 36,070 passengers between January and August 2026. This represents a 156.9pc increase compared to the same period from the previous year. The historic performance is primarily fuelled by a major expansion of regular commercial flight operations.
Six out of ten passengers using the airport are travelling on the route connecting Córdoba with Barcelona. Another third of the total traffic travels via flights to and from Gran Canaria. Major regional airlines like Vueling have committed to maintaining these scheduled connections throughout the high summer seasons.
Because the airport surpassed its previous annual total in just the first seven months of the year it is guaranteed to set a high new benchmark by the time 2026 concludes.
