Next year’s 50th anniversary of the Tianguis Turístico Mexico was described as marking a major milestone for Mexico’s tourism industry as Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila led the ceremony for the handover of Tianguis Turístico 2026 in Acapulco alongside minister of tourism, Josefina Rodríguez, and the Governor of Guerrero, Evelyn Salgado

The 2025 event in Rosario, Baja de California, introduced a binational character, highlighting collaboration in tourism between Mexico and the USA at a time of heightened tension over the border.

Mexico’s tourism department has committed to making the county the fifth most visited nation by 2030. The National Tourism Business Council called for stronger international promotion and improved entry experiences for visitors. An innovation at this year’s Tianguis Turístico Mexico is the gastronomic zone with specialist menus from the 31 provinces.

Minister Josefina Rodríguez shared: “Today is a very special day because we hand over the baton to the birthplace of tourist tianguis, once again to the state of Guerrero, which has been the natural home of this great event for years and where it was born. I know they will host a fantastic Tianguis 2026. Mexico has the strategy, tools, and willingness necessary to become the fifth most visited nation in the world by 2030. The 2025 edition has been special not only due to the hospitality of the people of Baja California but also because of the results already generating for the country’s tourist destinations.”
