Applications for the DiscoverEU programme remain open until 15 October. Eligible young people can apply for free travel passes to explore Europe by train and other sustainable transport methods. Successful applicants also receive discounts on accommodation and cultural activities.
Applications for the Autumn 2026 DiscoverEU application round are open until 15 October 2026 at 12:00 midday Brussels time. This round of the European Union’s initiative plans to award approximately 40,000 free travel passes to eligible 18-year-olds, backed by a €23.5 million budget. To apply during this call, applicants must be born between 1 January 2008 and 31 December 2008 inclusive. They must be a citizen or legal resident of an EU Member State, an Overseas Country or Territory associated with the EU, or an Erasmus+ associated country including Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia or Türkiye. Applicants must provide a valid ID card, passport or residence permit number on the application.
The scheme offers a travel pass for up to 7 days within a maximum one-month period. Selected applicants can take their trip anytime between 1 March 2027 and 31 May 2028. A DiscoverEU Discount Card provides reductions on accommodation, local transport, cultural visits, sports and food. Applicants can apply as an individual or form a travel group with up to 5 friends who also meet the eligibility criteria. Extra assistance and funding are available for individuals with disabilities or health challenges. Eligible young Europeans can submit their applications online through the European Youth Portal.
