Dublin Port Company has launched its inaugural Community Hero Award to mark the 25th anniversary of its Scholarship Programme. The initiative aims to recognise an individual who has made a meaningful positive contribution to the lives of people living and working across the Dublin Docklands. The winning Community Hero will receive €1,000 personally and €2,000 to donate to a local community initiative or good cause of their choosing. The winner will be announced on 1 October 2026 and must be available to accept the award on 15 October 2026 at a celebratory event held in The Gibson Hotel.
Nominations are open to members of the public who want to highlight a local hero active in the port neighbourhoods. The award focus targets the Dublin 1, 2, 3 and 4 communities including areas such as Ringsend, Irishtown, Pearse Street, North Wall, East Wall and Clontarf. Nominations must be submitted by 25 September 2026 via the official Dublin Port Community Hero Award page.
The bursary programme being celebrated has provided over €1.5m in funding to 1,500 local students since its inception in 2001, acting as the longest-running educational bursary in the Docklands area.
