Enaire has broken its all-time daily air traffic record by managing 8,548 flights in a single day on 1 August 2026. Driven by an influx of international tourists, Spain led 41 nations monitored by Eurocontrol during this summer peak. During the intensive summer campaign, Enaire shattered its previous daily air traffic records on 26 different occasions.

Total August operations reached 255,084 coordinated flights, a 5pc increase year-on-year. International flights reached 154,487 operations marking 5.7pc growth. National flights reached 44,074 movements rising by 4.2pc. Overflights reached 56,523 transit routes up 3.6pc. Spain’s air traffic rebound outpaced the rest of the continent with its August growth rate beating the European network average by 2.4pcage points.

All five of Enaire’s regional air traffic control hubs reported positive growth for August. Barcelona recorded 133,222 operations up 5.1pc. Madrid recorded 129,223 operations up 5.8pc. Palma recorded 55,153 flights showing the highest regional jump at 6.3pc. Sevilla recorded 56,104 operations up 5.0pc. Canarias recorded 37,104 operations up 3.5pc. This follows July when Enaire managed 257,909 total flights and broke daily records 30 times. Between January and August 2026, Enaire has guided 1.7m flights through Spanish airspace.
