Foyle Port has confirmed 36 cruise liner calls for the 2027 season, marking a major increase following a successful 2026 programme that saw almost 12,000 passengers arrive between April and September. Thirty-six ships are confirmed for next year compared with 22 this year, with around 25,000 passengers anticipated. The 2026 season generated £1.1 million for the local economy. Tourism Ireland values cruise tourism at about £27 million annually across Ireland.
Ships will utilise berths at Lisahally and Fort George while larger summer vessels will continue to tender at Greencastle in County Donegal. Passengers frequently cross the border to explore Derry’s 17th-century historic walls, the Wild Atlantic Way and the Causeway Coastal Route. Foyle Port manages operations across three primary landing zones.
The growth in cruise traffic highlights the rising popularity of Ireland’s North West as a maritime destination. The 2027 expansion represents a substantial increase in passenger volume and economic impact for the region.
