France’s National Hotel Chains Group has been renamed France Hospitalité, creating the country’s first federation dedicated to hoteliers and aiming to give the sector a stronger independent voice on regulation, taxation, sustainability and digital platforms. Veteran hospitality executive Serge Trigano has been appointed president. The rebranding marks a structural change in the French tourism landscape.

The shift comes after the organisation formally ended its 30-year association with the primary hospitality union, UMIH. France Hospitalité becomes France’s first federation focused exclusively on the hotel industry. It represents roughly 3,500 hotels and 300,000 rooms, comprising nearly half of France’s classified hotel inventory. Its members include major French and international groups such as Accor, Louvre Hotels, B&B Hotels, Hilton, Marriott and InterContinental.

Led by Trigano and CEO Antoine Angeard, the federation aims to take a less confrontational, more dialogue-driven approach with the government. It plans to focus on resolving workforce shortages, managing the impact of online travel platforms, navigating regulatory or tax changes, and expanding seasonal, business and sustainable tourism across the country.
