Minister Dara Calleary has announced €42,000 in funding for Croagh Patrick path management in 2026 and supports ongoing maintenance. The Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht contributes the sum with €35,000 from the Stakeholder Forum and €13,000 from Mayo County Council. Total investment reaches €90,000 for the year.
Work follows path restoration completed in 2024 that addressed erosion from over 50,000 annual visitors. The project aligns with Ireland’s National Outdoor Recreation Strategy. Officials confirmed collaboration with local landholders and volunteers.
