Planned strikes at London Gatwick Airport have been suspended after a new improved pay offer was tabled by the employer. More than 220 workers employed by the logistics firm Wilson James, who provide assisted travel services for passengers getting on and off aircraft, were set to walk out. The industrial action was scheduled to take place over nine days divided into two blocks from 17 to 21 September 2026 and 23 to 26 September 2026.
The Unite Union confirmed that the strikes have been paused in good faith so that members can review and vote on the revised pay proposal. A spokesperson for London Gatwick Airport welcomed the suspension, ensuring that passenger assistance services will operate as normal during this window.
The final outcome of the dispute will depend on the upcoming worker ballot.
