Grand Hotel Malahide completes €7m refurbishment to 44 bedrooms

FBD Hotels & Resorts has completed a major transformation of The Grand Hotel in Malahide, County Dublin, following its acquisition of the property. 

The group has invested €7m in the refurbishment programme since it took over the hotel in March 2025. Work has focused on both public areas and the historic Phoenix Wing.

FBD Hotels & Resorts acquired The Grand Hotel Malahide for €55m in March 2025 from the Ryan family, who owned the property since 1974. The Phoenix Wing, which dates back to 1835, now contains 44 bedrooms including five junior suites and twelve executive rooms. Designers Liz Harte and Melanie O’Callaghan refreshed the interiors with jewel tones and Art Deco influences.

The hotel offers 201 bedrooms in total. The Tara Suite accommodates banquets for up to 320 guests and conferences for up to 450 delegates. The Arena Health & Fitness Club features a 21-metre swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and gymnasium. New retail outlets have opened within the club.

Liz Harte shared “It has been an honour to work on this project and to honour the hotel’s heritage.”

Melanie O’Callaghan shared “We combined old-world charm with modern furniture and Art Deco influences.”
