The International Air Transport Association has released data for May 2026 that shows global air cargo demand increased by 6.0pc year-on-year. Capacity rose by 1.9pc with load factor at 46.3pc.
African airlines recorded 13.3pc growth in demand while Asia Pacific saw 8.0pc growth. North America achieved 10.5pc demand increase and Europe 6.7pc. Middle East carriers reported an 8.9pc decrease.
Asia-North America trade lane led growth at 19.9pc. Africa-Asia gained 14.1pc over 11 consecutive months. Global trade increased by 5.0pc year-on-year.
Willie Walsh shared “Air cargo demand grew 6pc year-on-year in May, with Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North American regions all reporting above trend growth.”
