Holland America Line has confirmed the introduction of Bar 1873, a new signature gathering place featuring contemporary design, cocktails and live music. The venue debuts aboard the Oosterdam as part of the ship’s Holland America Evolution transformation.
The two-story atrium venue will feature a soaring illuminated tulip sculpture, curated heritage displays and lounges designed for cocktails, conversation and intimate entertainment. On the Oosterdam the venue’s theme, May She Be Blessed, honours the maritime tradition of ship christenings and the godmothers who have helped launch generations of Holland America Line ships.
Bar 1873 is built around the Oosterdam’s central atrium on Deck 2. Surrounding the tulip are more than 200 heritage and repurposed objects, bespoke artwork and a visual timeline tracing the company’s legacy. Live piano performances will serve as a centrepiece of the experience during pre-dinner cocktail hours and throughout the evening.
The space draws on more than 150 years of maritime heritage and combines contemporary design with cocktails and live music. The concept is a milestone of the Holland America Evolution programme.
The venue is built around the ship’s central atrium on Deck 2 and features a three-metre illuminated tulip sculpture. It displays more than 200 historical artefacts, repurposed vintage objects, custom artwork and a visual timeline mapping the company’s legacy. The centre rug mimics a clock from the SS Rotterdam dining room.
On the Oosterdam the theme is May She Be Blessed honouring the tradition of ship namings and the 1958 naming of the Rotterdam V by Queen Juliana of the Netherlands. Live piano performances and vocalists feature during pre-dinner cocktail hours and throughout the evening. Bar 1873 will expand across all six Vista Class and Signature Class ships.
