Hurtigruten has relaunched MS Vesterålen after extensive renovation and introduced a new onboard concept based on its 133 year history. The ship has returned to regular service on the route between Bergen and Kirkenes.
One hundred cabins and public areas received refreshes with Arctic Superior and Mini Suites added while the original intimate atmosphere remains preserved. Menus draw inspiration from the 1930s and crew uniforms reference classic designs. The smallest ship in the fleet carries 133 cabins and sails year round on the Original Coastal Express.
Historic details and coastal artwork appear throughout the vessel. Guests find tributes to past ships and crew. The concept brings heritage elements into the restaurant and guest areas.
Hedda Felin shared “With MS Vesterålen back in service, it is not just a ship being put back into operation. It is living history with strong traditions being given a new life.”
André Pettersen shared “The changes have been very well received by guests who have been on board for the first sailings.”
