HX connects with sustainable short power in Reykjavik

HX celebrated a milestone as the Fridtjof Nansen became the first ship to connect to shore power at Midtbakki Terminal on June 9

The ship will use renewable electricity from Iceland to minimise emissions during port calls in Reykjavik

Claus A. Andersen, director of fleet operations at HX, highlighted the importance of sustainable shore power in their efforts towards more sustainable shipping

Sigurður Jökull Ólafsson from Faxaflóahafnir sf. praised HX for their experience with shore power connections and emphasized the importance of expanding shore power capacity to improve air quality in the harbour.
