Iberia has appointed Joana de Epalza as its new Chief Financial Officer, succeeding Gabriel Perdiguero, who will move to British Airways in the same role.
De Epalza joins from Vueling, where she has served as Chief Financial and Transformation Officer since 2023, contributing to strong financial performance and transformation efforts. With over two decades in finance across various multinationals, she brings expertise in restructuring and integrations. The changes, effective June 2026, highlight IAG’s focus on internal talent mobility.
Shared in a written statement “Joana de Epalza has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of Iberia, joining from Vueling, where she has held the position of Chief Financial and Transformation Officer since 2023. In this role, she has played a key part in consolidating a double-digit margin for the airline, as well as driving its transformation.”
Gabriel Perdiguero has been with Iberia since 2014, holding roles in finance, customer service, and technology. He led transformation programmes, including establishing a Data and Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence. His move to British Airways continues IAG’s talent development strategy.
These appointments follow Nicholas Cadbury’s departure from IAG, with José Antonio Barrionuevo assuming his role. They reinforce IAG’s commitment to internal promotions and group-wide success.
Iberia shared in a written statement ” Gabriel Perdiguero has led Iberia’s transformation programmes, driven by multiple data, technology and artificial intelligence initiatives. In 2019, he spearheaded the creation of Iberia’s Data and Artificial Intelligence Centre of Excellence, integrating data capabilities into business decision-making and operational processes.”
