LEGEND Lore: Elevated Horizons: Inside the AquaDome on Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas, atop the world’s largest cruise ship

0

Spreadeagles over at the forward uppermost section of Legend of the Seas, the AquaDome forms a glass-enclosed neighbourhood that commands uninterrupted forward ocean vistas. This space operates on a dual rhythm: daylight hours focus on relaxed seating and casual exploration, while evenings transform it into the setting for the ship’s signature Aqua Action productions. These feature high-diving sequences coordinated with a substantial waterfall installation that cascades dramatically within the venue.

The neighbourhood sits high on the vessel, directly above forward sections of upper decks, accessible via dedicated lifts and staircases that connect it to adjacent areas such as Chill Island. Its elevated position and transparent structure allow natural light to flood the interior by day and create a distinct atmosphere once the entertainment programming begins after dark.

Complimentary Dining: AquaDome Market

Each neighbourhood on Legend of the Seas includes one primary complimentary dining venue. In the AquaDome, this takes the form of the AquaDome Market, a food hall concept with six dedicated stalls. Five of these represent new introductions specific to this ship, expanding the range beyond the five stalls found on sister vessels Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. The stalls comprise:

  • Seoulmate: Royal Caribbean’s first Korean-focused outlet, specialising in rice bowls with umami-driven combinations of proteins, vegetables, and sauces.
  • La Española: Spanish tapas selections including small plates of cured items, grilled elements, and traditional accompaniments.
  • Cajun Kitchen: Louisiana-inspired bites such as gumbo variations and other bayou-style dishes.
  • Adobo: Mexican street-food options including tacos and related preparations.
  • Simply Pressed: Freshly squeezed juice and smoothie station using whole fruits and vegetables.
  • Crème de la Crêpe: The returning crepe station offering both sweet and savoury versions prepared to order. Examples include the Salted Caramel (toffee and vanilla bean custard) and Hazelnut and Bananas (Nutella with fresh banana), alongside savoury fillings such as Bacon and Eggs or Roasted Vegetables.

The Market operates from late morning through late evening, with made-to-order preparation at each counter. Seating spills into the surrounding AquaDome areas, including outdoor-style tables with sea views. This setup appears on Icon-class vessels but reaches its most varied form here with the expanded stall count.

Premium Dining Outlets

Within or directly associated with the AquaDome neighbourhood, premium options provide more structured experiences. Hooked Seafood occupies a prominent position on Deck 15, delivering New England-style seafood with a raw bar and ocean-facing tables. Its menu centres on shellfish towers, grilled fish, and classic preparations such as lobster rolls or clam chowder derivatives.

Adjacent private dining spaces include Celebration Table, which accommodates groups up to twelve with family-style prix-fixe menus and dedicated lounge access, and Chef’s Table, an intimate chef-led tasting experience sharing the same high-forward location. These draw on the AquaDome’s panoramic setting for occasions requiring separation from the main flow.

Other ship-wide premium venues, such as Chops Grille (steakhouse with wagyu and tomahawk cuts) and Izumi (hibachi and sushi), sit outside the AquaDome but maintain consistent availability across the Icon-class fleet.

Signature dishes at Hooked Seafood typically feature market-fresh catches prepared simply to highlight quality, with sides like roasted vegetables or herbed grains. Sample menu progression might begin with oyster selections or ceviche, proceed to entrées such as seared scallops or grilled branzino, and conclude with a citrus-based dessert. Exact offerings rotate based on sourcing, but the emphasis remains on coastal classics executed with open-kitchen visibility.

The AquaDome Market’s complimentary stalls, particularly Seoulmate and Crème de la Crêpe, have established themselves as repeat choices for guests seeking variety without additional cost. Premium outlets like Hooked provide elevated service levels that align with the neighbourhood’s forward, light-filled environment. On Legend of the Seas, this combination positions the AquaDome as a self-contained destination for both daytime grazing and evening entertainment with integrated dining.
