  • Management is assessing commercial viability across primary hubs.

Loganair has confirmed it is evaluating its operational bases and actively searching for additional ATR 42-600 turboprop aircraft. The strategic evaluation follows the completion of its major fleet renewal programme which fully transitioned the airline away from its legacy Saab 340 aircraft to a modernised fleet centred around ATR platforms. The airline is the largest regional carrier in England.

The airline is targeting additional 48-seat ATR 42-600 models to optimise capacity on regional, Highland and Island routes where larger regional aircraft are less efficient. The ATR 42-600 provides up to a 27pc reduction in carbon emissions per seat compared to older generation turboprops like the Saab 340 aligning with the airline’s environmental and operational cost targets. Management is assessing the commercial viability and resource allocation across its primary crew and maintenance hubs.

The fleet renewal programme has positioned Loganair with a modernised fleet centred around ATR platforms. The airline continues to evaluate opportunities for growth. The additional aircraft would support connectivity on regional routes.
