TUI has cancelled Mein Schiff 3’s planned trip to the Canaries due to damage sustained in an incident at Bremerhaven port on 25 October 2026. The ship collided with a cargo ship while leaving Bremerhaven in stormy conditions on Sunday evening. Subsequent police reports stated that a total of three ships were involved.

Caught by a gust of wind Mein Schiff 3 initially collided with a smaller container ship causing minor damage and then drifted into a larger container ship the MSC Victorine. The port authority stated that this collision resulted in a crack approximately ten metres long in the container ship while lifeboats, their associated cranes and the outer hull were damaged on the cruise ship. At the time of the accident there were 2,428 guests onboard who disembarked on Monday morning as well as 922 crew members.

TUI confirmed that no one was injured in the incident noting that the ship remains at the pier in Bremerhaven since the identified damage requires immediate repair work. Technical teams and experts are examining the extent of the damage based on which it will determine whether subsequent voyages will be affected. The coastal police are investigating the captain of the cruise ship for a possible regulatory offence.

TUI Cruises shared “This decision is extremely difficult for us. We know how much our guests have looked forward to this trip and deeply regret the associated inconveniences. At the same time, we are convinced that this is the only responsible decision to ensure our high safety standards.”
