  • Jet fuel accounts for up to 40pc of LOT’s operating costs.
  • Jet fuel prices climbed nearly 114pc year-over-year.
  • Former Yugoslav markets face cuts of an estimated 40pc.
  • Suspended services are expected to resume around April 2027.

LOT Polish Airlines is cutting several European routes and reducing flight frequencies for the winter schedule. The changes come as jet fuel prices have risen to 40pc of the airline’s total operating costs. Jet fuel prices climbed nearly 114pc year-over-year as of mid-October.

Warsaw to Bologna is suspended along with Kraków to Barcelona, Kraków to Madrid and Kraków to Rome. Reduced frequencies affect several other European paths including cutbacks across former Yugoslav markets. The suspended services are expected to remain off the schedule through winter with plans to resume around April 2027.

LOT is cutting operations across former Yugoslav markets by an estimated 40pc moving routes like Podgorica and Sarajevo to seasonal schedules. Intense competition from low-cost carriers makes it difficult for LOT to raise ticket prices enough to offset high operating costs.
