The Lú Festival of Light has returned to Drogheda for its fifth year with four nights of projections, street entertainment and family fun from 23 to 26 October 2026. The festival transforms landmark buildings into giant storytelling canvases inspired by the Celtic Calendar, changing seasons and traditions of harvest and Samhain.
Stories include Lugh’s legendary clash with Balor, the Dagda and his magical Cauldron of Plenty, and Brigid whose story connects Ireland’s ancient mythology with its enduring traditions. The festival begins on 23 October at approximately 6.15pm with the Drogheda Credit Union Spooks Parade produced by Droichead Arts Centre.
The main projection locations are St Peter’s Church on West Street, the Old Abbey, and St Laurence’s Gate. Additional festival experiences take place at the Methodist Church, Highlanes Gallery and Scotch Hall Shopping Centre. The Cottage Market returns to the Dominican Church on Dominic Street.
