The restaurant and accommodation business operated by chef Neven Maguire has recorded a pre-tax loss of €103,392 due to non-cash items. TV chef Neven Maguire and his wife Amelda have been operating MacNean Restaurant and guesthouse at Blacklion in County Cavan since 2001 and today it employs 60 people. The business continues to trade profitably on a cash basis and non-cash items resulted in Lucon Ltd recording the €103,392 pre-tax loss for 2025.
The non-cash costs for 2025 comprise a €135,784 non-cash write down of an intangible asset and a non-cash depreciation cost of €95,171 a total of €230,955. Before the non-cash items are taken into account the firm recorded a trading profit of €127,563 for 2025. In a buoyant year for the business cash funds at the company last year increased from €2.33m to €2.43m.
The numbers employed by the firm remained at the same level at 59 made up of two directors and 57 in administration. Pay to directors last year decreased by 34pc from €175,658 to €116,174 made up of €105,780 in directors’ remuneration and €10,394 in health insurance contributions. Mr Maguire has published 20 cookery books and published his latest one earlier this month titled One Pan Wins.
