The Community of Madrid is on track to close 2026 with more than 9.5m international tourists and spending above €19,000m. Between June and August hotels in the region hosted 3.4m travellers, up 1.8pc on the previous year, with 55pc coming from abroad.

The United States remained the leading international market and August visitor numbers rose 6.9pc. International tourist spending in June and July exceeded €3,400m, a 6.8pc increase. Tourism supports more than 300,000 jobs in the region. The projections are supported by a 9.6pc year-on-year increase in international arrivals tracked over the first seven months of 2026. Over the same seven-month period international visitor spending surpassed €11,600m, marking a 10.7pc increase compared with 2025.

The region’s boom is propelled by top-performing international markets led primarily by visitors from the United States followed closely by robust travel numbers from Brazil and European nations. High-profile events and major concerts including large-scale artist residencies are projected to inject around €3,000m into the local economy.
