Meili, the Dublin-based travel technology company, has secured $29.1m (€25m) in funding backed by Enterprise Ireland to accelerate its global expansion and product suite. Founded in 2021 by industry veterans Mike McGearty and Bobby Healy, the firm helps airlines, mobility apps and travel brands integrate direct car rental bookings using just two lines of code. The company has 50 staff and has raised €25m in funding to date since its establishment.
The technology integrates seamlessly into airline websites, offering customers different car rental options applicable to their flight booking based on direct relationships airlines maintain with car rental companies. The overlay of customer loyalty profiles and other elements provides added value through a seamless experience where customers have all details when they arrive at the rental desk. McGearty and Healy, who previously worked together at CarTrawler, developed the concept through their experience in that business, with the seed of Meili born from identified market opportunities.
Enterprise Ireland supports the business, with the agency’s help proving particularly useful given Meili’s international focus, especially in Latin American markets where they assist with market research. The company targets reaching 100 customers by the end of 2027 and expanding into hotel bookings, believing there are opportunities in the market. Meili works with airlines including Lufthansa, SAS, SunExpress, Corsair and LATAM Airlines, powers the car rental channel for FREENOW across Europe, and integrates with Accor’s loyalty scheme. The company recently achieved ISO 27001:2022 certification and appointed Steve Matise as SVP of Americas to support expansion.
