Michael Yohannes is leaving his role as Ireland Country Manager to take up the position of Country Manager for Ethiopian in Britain. Mr Yohannes, who arrived in Ireland with his family in early 2015, was pivotal in launching the first Dreamliner service from Dublin Airport flying direct to Los Angeles and Addis Ababa. It was also the first time an airline connected the three continents of Africa, Europe and North America through the capital’s airport.
The service has since expanded the service to 4w weekly from Dublin to Los Angeles and Dublin to Addis Ababa, while Mr Yohannes has grown the Ethiopian brand among the trade and public.

His successor in Ireland, Meseret Tekalign Bekele, has been Country Manager for the Seychelles since 2014, and previously worked for the airline in senior sales roles at its Addis Ababa base.
“I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time here in Ireland,” Mr Yohannes said. “I feel truly happy I was given the
opportunity to bring Ethiopian into the Irish market and I want to thank my team and the travel
trade for supporting me in that mission. It is now time for me to pass on the baton to my successor,
Meseret Tekalign Bekele and I wish her lots of success in her new role.”
