Mullingar-based premium chocolatier Sugar Plum Sweetery has won the top prize as the Overall National Winner at the 2026 National Enterprise Awards.
The company, founded in 2022 by husband-and-wife duo David Quirke and Denise Buckley, also took home the Midlands Regional title at the same event held at Dublin’s Mansion House.
At the Enterprise Awards (2026) it was named the overall national winner after achieving a massive 815% revenue growth from 2024 to 2025, driven by viral products like their “Dubai Chocolate Bar”. Other recent awards include:
- Westmeath County Enterprise Awards (2026) won the top county prize, which advanced them to the national finals.
- Irish Quality Food & Drink Awards won a taste award for their popular Florentine Favourite Handmade Chocolate Bar.
- Blas na hÉireann Awards (2023): Received a prestigious award for their Florentine Chocolate Slab.
The artisan brand operates its flagship boutique store on Dominick Street in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, with additional retail locations in Kildare Village and growing stockists across Ireland.
Tipperary start up tech company I Left You A Note Ltd was a finalist at the awards for its hotel focused solution. The company helps hotels address guest issues before they affect online reviews. Founded by entrepreneur Stephen O’Sullivan, this Ballina-based travel tech company represented Local Enterprise Office (LEO) Tipperary at the Mansion House ceremony in Dublin.
