The new chairs of the Joint Oireachtas Committees dealing with transport and tourism both come from Munster. Michael Murphy, who represents Tipperary South, will chair the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Transport.
He has been elected to the Dáil since the 2024 general election and previously served on Tipperary County Council.
James O’Connor, who will chair the Enterprise, Tourism and Employment committee, has represented Cork East since the 2020 general election.
Mr O’Connor was the youngest member of the 33rd Dáil and had previously served on Cork County Council..
