Hoteles Bestprice has opened its fourth Barcelona property, Bestprice Maragall, with 62 rooms. Accor has launched its first Ibis Styles in the Basque Country at Zumaia Zestoa. Meliá Hotels International plans a new property in Corfu for 2027, extending its Mediterranean presence. These additions come as chains continue to expand mid-range and lifestyle options in key Spanish and nearby destinations.
Hoteles Bestprice officially opened Hotel BESTPRICE Maragall. Located in Barcelona’s Horta-Guinardó district, this budget property features 62 rooms and a rooftop swimming pool. To align with sustainable local neighbourhood tourism, the hotel purposefully does not feature an on-site restaurant, encouraging guests to patronise local cafes, bars and shops in the surrounding community.
Accor launched its debut ibis Styles property in the Basque Country. Strategically situated in Zestoa at exit 48 of the AP8 motorway, the 3-star design hotel features 77 rooms themed around local geology and Basque mythology. The property features an on-site restaurant, Jentilak, which serves regional cuisine, a gym, an 800-square-metre event terrace and Tesla EV charging stations.
Sébastien Bazin, Accor CEO, shared: “Hotel openings should pass a strict two-column test comparing what the property takes from a community versus what it actively contributes, even if it means killing a signed project over resource constraints like water scarcity.”
