Norwegian Cruise Line has hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Great Tides Waterpark on its private island in the Bahamas, Great Stirrup Cay, on 2 September 2026. Government officials, travel partners, media, more than 100 content creators and special guests attended the exclusive preview ahead of the 4 September grand opening. The company revealed the first images of the waterpark in early August, with the attraction representing one of the most significant enhancements in Norwegian’s ongoing investment in Great Stirrup Cay.

The Great Tides Waterpark covers nearly six acres and offers experiences across four main areas: Tidal Tower, Cliffside Cove, Wandering River and Splash Cay. The park features a 170-foot Tidal Tower, first-of-its-kind slides and an immersive Wandering River, alongside industry-first cliff jumps and interactive splash zones. NHL star Taylor Hall of the Carolina Hurricanes and actor Josh Peck attended the preview event and experienced many of the attractions.

Signature partner activations featured specialty cocktails, beverage tastings, branded giveaways and photo opportunities throughout the preview day. A culinary showcase of the waterpark’s newest dining venues and a Junkanoo performance celebrating Bahamian culture and music formed part of the event programme. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings President and CEO John Chidsey and Norwegian Cruise Line President Marc Kazlauskas attended the ceremony, with government officials including United States Ambassador to The Bahamas Herschel Walker and Member of Parliament Randy Rolle present.
