Passenger traffic across Paris airports declined during the peak summer months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. In August 2026, Paris Aéroport handled 10.1m passengers, representing a 3.2pc decrease year-on-year. Paris-Charles de Gaulle saw 6.9m passengers, down 1.1pc, while Paris-Orly dropped more steeply by 7.4pc to 3.2m passengers. In July 2026, traffic dipped by 1.0pc overall for Paris platforms compared to July 2025.
Flight schedule reductions tied directly to ongoing conflicts and airspace restrictions in the Middle East heavily impacted long-haul connections. The sharpest passenger decreases at Paris hubs were recorded on routes serving the Middle East down 6.2pc, Latin America down 5.5pc and North America down 5.3pc. Higher jet fuel prices, localized extreme heat disruptions and broader operational capacity constraints also weighed on growth.
The drop reflects wider European shifts in travel patterns and residual effects from regional geopolitical tensions.
