Protestors blocked access to the Costa Maya Cruise Port on 5 June 2026. Workers from Mayan Connection gathered at the main entrance to protest unpaid profit-sharing benefits. The blockade stopped vehicles, staff, suppliers and tourist vans from entering the port.

The action disrupted operations while Royal Caribbean’s Mariner of the Seas and Enchantment of the Seas visited the port. Scheduled shore excursions and transport to nearby attractions experienced delays. Mayan Connection provides transport and tours in the Quintana Roo region that includes Costa Maya, Mahahual and Cancún.

Costa Maya serves as a major port of call for Western Caribbean cruises. The port changed ownership in 2025 and now forms part of Royal Caribbean’s portfolio.
