Royal Caribbean has welcomed Skipper as the next Chief Dog Officer onboard Legend of the Seas. The Golden Retriever joined the ship earlier in June 2026 ahead of the maiden voyage. Legend of the Seas prepares for its first paying guests on 4 July 2026.
Skipper lives onboard with Rover on Icon of the Seas and Sailor on Star of the Seas. The dog underwent training at the company headquarters in Miami after birth in early February 2026. Royal Caribbean partners with the American Humane Society for the programme.
The vessel offers a seven-night inaugural cruise from Civitavecchia near Rome to ports in Italy Spain and France. Legend of the Seas sails in the Western Mediterranean through late October 2026 before a trans-Atlantic crossing. The 250800-ton ship then bases in Fort Lauderdale for Caribbean and Bahamas itineraries.
Royal Caribbean shared “Skipper joined the ship earlier this month ahead of the vessel’s maiden voyage.”
