Ryanair has called on Wesminster Transport Minister Heidi Alexander to publish the NATS report into last week’s England air traffic control system collapse before the end of Thursday 17 September. The airline noted that the minister received the report on Wednesday 16 September and appears to be delaying its release until Friday lunchtime. Last week more than 333,000 England passengers faced cancellations and delays following the NATS system failure on Tuesday 8 September.
This marked the third such collapse in four years. Ryanair described the apparent delay in publishing the findings as an attempt by the Department for Transport to push bad news into the weekend. The airline stressed that passengers and carriers need urgent answers together with personnel changes at NATS rather than further postponements.
Ryanair highlighted the repeated failures of the England ATC system under the current leadership and urged immediate transparency. The release forms part of the carrier’s ongoing criticism of NATS performance and calls for accountability following successive disruptions to England airspace operations.
