Ryanair has cancelled a number of flights to and from Charleroi Airport in Belgium because of ongoing air traffic control strikes. At least 18 flights have been officially cancelled for Friday morning, with further cancellations and delays expected to climb throughout the day.
Walkouts are scheduled every night from 22:00 to 08:00 until 10 October. Affected passengers on services from Newcastle, Manchester and Edinburgh are being notified via email and the Ryanair app. The airline apologised for the disruption beyond its control. The strikes are organised by Skeyes workers over night shift compensation and allowances.
The strike schedule runs for 24 consecutive nights from Wednesday 16 September through 10 October 2026. The overall disruption is expected to impact over 800 flight movements and potentially up to 300,000 passengers across the multi week period. Outbound flights scheduled to return after 22:00 as well as early morning departures relying on those rotated aircraft have been pulled proactively. Routes affected include various European and UK destinations such as Bucharest, Palma, Madrid, Manchester and Stockholm.
