Spanish government launches €15m plan to modernise hospitality equipment

The Spanish government has approved a €15m surprise plan to help accommodation and catering businesses renew equipment with energy-efficient alternatives. 

Subsidies ranging from five thousand to eleven thousand euros per establishment can cover up to 100pcof eligible investments in areas such as appliances, air conditioning, sustainable materials, and digital energy-optimisation tools (excluding fossil fuel equipment). 

Applications open on Aug 5 and run until September 30 or until funds are exhausted. The initiative aims to cut energy costs, boost competitiveness, and support the sector, which accounts for 40pc of tourism businesses and 60pc of tourism employment.
