Overnight stays in hotel establishments have decreased by 0.9pc in June compared to the same month in 2025, with the total exceeding 38.6m overnight stays across the Spanish hotel sector. The overnight stays of resident travellers have grown by 1.5pc, while those of non-resident travellers have fallen by 2.0pc, and the cumulative total for the first six months of 2026 has increased by 1.8pc compared to the same period in 2025. Andalusia, Catalonia, and the Valencian Community have been confirmed as the principal destinations for resident travellers, accounting for 22.4pc, 15.4pc, and 13.0pc of total overnight stays respectively.
Illes Balears has achieved the highest occupancy rate at 82.5pc of offered places, with the Mallorca island zone recording the highest number of overnight stays at over 7.2m. Travellers from the United Kingdom and Germany have concentrated 29.0pc and 16.3pc of non-resident overnight stays, while the following markets of France, the United States, and the Netherlands have represented 6.5pc, 5.4pc, and 4.2pc respectively. The occupancy rate for all hotels has reached 65.6pc of offered places, representing a decline of 0.2pc compared to June 2025, while the weekend occupancy rate has fallen by 1.4pc to 71.3pc.
The Hotel Price Index has risen by 5.6pc in June compared to the same month in 2025, with Illes Balears recording the highest increase at 9.2pc and Ceuta recording the most acute decline at 0.1pc. The average revenue per occupied room has reached €137.1, representing an increase of 5.8pc, while the revenue per available room has reached €101.6 with an increase of 4.9pc. Five-star hotels have achieved an average daily rate of €317.9, four-star hotels €141.3, and three-star hotels €110.9, with Marbella recording the highest average daily rate at €315.4 and Estepona recording the highest revenue per available room at €249.9.
