THREE Irish ports among 11 competitors for for the European Seaports Awards 2026

Dublin Port, Port of Cork and Belfast Harbour are among 11 European ports submitting projects for the ESPO Award 2026 under the theme of innovative dual-use port city initiatives:

  • Germany: Niedersachsen Ports & City of Cuxhaven
  • Greece: Piraeus Port Authority S.A.
  • Iceland: Port of Reykjavik
  • Ireland: Belfast Harbour, Dublin Port Company, Port of Cork
  • Italy: North Adriatic Sea Port Authority
  • Lithuania: Klaipeda Port
  • Poland: Port of Gdansk, Port of Gdynia
  • Spain: Port of Tarragona

The European Sea Ports Organisation invited entries by 3 July 2026 and now an independent jury will evaluate the submissions on integration of port functions with community benefits. The ceremony takes place on 10 November 2026 in Brussels and the winner receives a custom painting and features in an illustrated booklet. 

Projects are being asked to illustrate the balance between core maritime operations and leisure, cultural and housing uses for local citizens.
