The official Guinness World Record holder for the smallest hotel in the world has retained its title in the new edition. The Trafo-Häuschen in Bad Segeberg Germany. Officially verified by Guinness this micro-hotel offers just 17.85 square metres of floor space split across three levels. The Trafo-Häuschen is part of the Apart Hotel Wasserturm experience. Despite its size constraints it functions as a fully private luxury apartment for two guests utilising vertical space rather than footprint.
The ground floor features a tiny entryway seating area and a modern micro-kitchenette. The middle floor houses a space-efficient bathroom equipped with a full-size rainfall shower. The top floor features a double bedroom tucked directly beneath a large glass panoramic roof designed for sleeping under the stars. There is no staff or reception desk on-site with guests checking themselves in using a digital smartphone link.
Other contenders include the Eh’häusl in Amberg Germany which held the Guinness record from 2008 to 2023, Hotel Puntagrande on El Hierro in the Canary Islands which held the 1984 Guinness record for the smallest hotel with multiple rooms and The Famous Star Hotel in Moffat Scotland recognised by Guinness as the narrowest detached hotel in the world.
