United Airlines and JetBlue Airways are in negotiations for a partnership aimed at improving connectivity and offering frequent-flyer benefits to customers while avoiding coordination on schedules or pricing.
JetBlue’s chief executive, Joanna Geraghty, stated during an investor call on April 29 that the airline is negotiating with multiple carriers and aims to announce a new partnership in the second quarter of 2025.
JetBlue, which reported a net loss of $208m for the first quarter of 2025, focuses on partnerships to enhance revenue from customer loyalty programmes and expand travel connectivity options.
The airline previously attempted the Northeast Alliance with American Airlines, but the deal was blocked, and JetBlue has expressed no interest in pursuing a similar arrangement in the future.United Airlines’ CEO, Scott Kirby, shared, “I would like to have a presence on the other side of the river at JFK. But man, all the headaches, all the brain damage of buying a whole airline to get there. That’s a lot to do.”
