Viking has taken delivery of the company’s newest river ship in Egypt, the Viking Ptah. The delivery ceremony for the Ptah took place at Massara shipyard in Cairo, Egypt. The company said in a press release that the new ship hosts 82 guests in 41 staterooms, and is built specifically to navigate the Nile River on Viking’s 12-day “Pharaohs & Pyramids” itinerary. The Viking Ptah and her identical sister ships feature the Scandinavian design for which Viking is known, including a distinctive square bow and an indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace.
Viking remains focused on well-defined, long-term growth plans as part of a strategy to continue leading in experiential travel. Based on Viking’s committed orderbook, the company expects to take delivery of 20 additional river ships by 2028, nine additional ocean ships by 2031 and two additional expedition ships by 2031. With these orders, Viking will have 114 river ships in 2028 and 26 ocean and expedition ships in 2031.
