Visit Waterford unveils seven one-day adventures for summer’s final weeks

Visit Waterford has launched a new series of ‘One Day Adventures’, a collection of seven ready-made itineraries designed to help families and visitors get the very most out of the county before the season winds down. From street art and whiskey tastings in Waterford City to cliff walks, sea swimming, Greenway cycling and monastic history along the coast, the itineraries showcase the breadth of experiences on offer across Waterford. Each itinerary follows a simple morning-to-evening structure, pairing an activity with a place to eat and a suggestion for how to finish the day, taking the guesswork out of planning.

The seven One Day Adventures include ‘Walls, Whiskey & Music’ exploring the Waterford Walls street art trail and a whiskey tasting; ‘Harbour Adventure’ combining watersports at Dunmore East Adventure Centre with coastal walking; ‘The Family Seaside Adventure’ bringing together the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens and Splashworld; ‘Cliffs, Geology & Bunmahon’ along the Copper Coast; ‘Mountains to Greenway’ pairing a mountain walk with cycling; ‘Heritage & River Adventure’ exploring Lismore; and ‘Saints, Cliffs & Sea’ discovering Ardmore’s ancient monastic site. The itineraries are designed to be flexible, allowing visitors to adjust activities and timings to suit the pace of their group, the weather and the ages of those travelling.

The seven One Day Adventures are:

  • Cliffs, Geology & Bunmahon, a scenic journey along the Copper Coast taking in coastal walks, local art and the region’s mining heritage.
  • Harbour Adventure, combining watersports and activities at Dunmore East Adventure Centre with coastal walking and fresh seafood by the harbour.
  • Heritage & River Adventure, exploring Lismore’s heritage sites before a cruise or self-drive boat trip on the River Blackwater.
  • Mountains to Greenway, pairing a mountain walk in the Comeraghs with cycling on the Waterford Greenway and dinner in Dungarvan’s Culinary Quarter.
  • Saints, Cliffs & Sea, discovering Ardmore’s ancient monastic site, walking the signed cliff walk and finishing with a seaweed bath or traditional music session.
  • The Family Seaside Adventure, bringing together the Lafcadio Hearn Japanese Gardens, a family session at Splashworld and a relaxed evening on the Tramore seafront.
  • Walls, Whiskey & Music, exploring the Waterford Walls street art trail, a Waterford Treasures museum experience and an evening of whiskey tasting and live music in Waterford City.
