- Wizz Air operates six XLR aircraft currently.
- The remaining five arrive later in 2026.
- Integration treats them as standard A321-200NX.
- The decision followed Abu Dhabi operations closure.
- Plans for order transfers did not succeed.
Wizz Air has integrated its eleven A321-200NY(XLR) aircraft into the fleet as standard-range A321-200NX models and operates them without special demarcation. Chief Commercial Officer Ian Malin confirmed the decision during Routes World 2026. The airline took six aircraft already and receives the remaining five later this year.
Plans to transfer outstanding orders to another operator did not proceed. The XLR models no longer fit the low-cost carrier business model after closure of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi. Ian Malin addressed the fleet strategy in detail.
The group is maintaining focus on its core network operations. Aircraft assignments support route efficiency across Europe whjile officials monitor performance of the integrated fleet.
Ian Malin shared “The aircraft no longer fit into the low-cost carrier business model. We will not even demark them as a specific type.”
