MSC Cruises to add TEN new ships by 2033

The latest order by MSC Cruises means the cruise line will have completed  the addition of ten new ships by 2033. 

The company confirms four vessels ordered from Meyer Werft. Orderbook includes six World-class ships from Chantiers de l’Atlantique. Newbuilds add over 47,500 berths. Fleet capacity grows by roughly 60 percent.

MSC operated a 23-vessel fleet currently. Average guest capacity stood at 3,600 per ship. Future average rose to nearly 4,000 passengers. World-class ships entered service in 2026 and 2027. Additional vessels arrived between 2029 and 2032.

The New Frontier prototype featured 180,000 tons and 5,400 passengers. Option existed for two extra ships. Contract marked milestone for shipyard. Sustainability guided design choices. Expansion met rising cruise demand.
